The compact category is the cheapest. Think Ford Fiesta, Kia Picanto, or similar. Small engine, handles the island roads fine, and fits into tight parking spaces in Kos Town. Two adults and two suitcases fit comfortably. Three adults is doable but cosy.
Every car in our fleet is serviced regularly. We do not send out vehicles with cracked windscreens or warning lights lit up on the dash. The cheap category is not neglected — it is just smaller.
Price includes basic insurance, and you will need to leave a fuel deposit. Return the car with a full tank and the deposit comes back. There is no trick to it.
When a Cheap Car Is the Right Choice
If you are a couple travelling light, staying somewhere with easy parking, and planning to do a few day trips, the compact is all you need. It will get you to Kefalos, Tigaki, and the mountain villages without any trouble.
If you are a family with three children, beach gear, and a pushchair, you will want to step up to the mid-size category. The daily rate is higher but the convenience is worth it. Trying to fit a family of five into a compact for a week is a mistake you only make once.
If you are staying in a hotel with limited parking and you plan to leave the car there most days, a cheap compact makes even more sense. You are not paying for space you are not using.
Where to Collect a Cheap Rental in Kos
You can collect a compact car either at Kos Airport or in Kos Town. The price is the same, so choose whichever fits your travel plans.
Airport collection works best if you are flying in. Downtown collection is better if you arrive by ferry or are already staying in Kos Town.
How to Actually Save Money on a Kos Rental
Book early. Kos is seasonal, and the cheap cars go first. In July and August, waiting until the last minute means either paying more or ending up with nothing.
Fill the tank before you return the car. Petrol stations are easy to find, and the fuel deposit is your money. Do not hand it back to the rental company as a donation.
